What is Whole Body Cryotherapy?
Whole Body Cryotherapy, known as (WBC), was discovered in Japan by a Japanese Scientist back in 1978. It was originally used for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Today, WBC is used worldwide. It has become extremely popular, especially with professional athletes.
Professional Athletes have claimed up to 60% faster recovery from athletic injuries, muscle strain, and generalized muscle soreness. Whole Body Cryotherapy can be helpful for neck and back pain, as well as joint pain.
WBC has shown to help with Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as Osteo Arthritis, along with Fibromyalgia.
There has been evidence that WBC helps with mild depression, and also has effects regarding increased energy, and improved/restful Sleep.
Whole Body Cryotherapy also reduces inflammation, rheumatoid/osteo Arthritis, neck/back pain, sciatic pain, fibromyalgia, and aids with Sports Recovery
A quick, three-minute session causes a physiological response in the body that penetrates to your core. The blood moves from the extremities inward in an attempt to generate heat, where it is reoxygenated and sent back to the extremities to incite the healing process. It has numerous benefits that include:
- Pain Management
- Benefits For Athletes and Extreme Training
- Anti-Aging & Skin Rejuvenation
- Athletic Performance & Recovery
- Energy, Mood & Improvement of Depression
- Fitness Training
- Metabolic Boost
- Weight Loss
- Sports Injuries
How does Whole Body Cryotherapy Work?
Clients need to understand that when stepping into the Cryo Sauna Cabin and experiencing the cold temperatures, it isn’t necessarily the cold temperature that helps in healing. Actually, the extreme cold air triggers a “Survival Response” where the body draws blood to central part of the body to protect the lungs, heart, liver, etc. from the danger of freezing. After the 3 short minute session, the body immediately and rapidly begins to warm back to normal external body temperature, at which time the blood vessels become dilated and blood quickly returns back out to the arms and legs. This process creates a neurological response thereby releasing: Adrenalin, Endorphins, Cytokines, Enkephalins and much more….
These chemicals help reduce pain, increase energy response, increase Serotonin in the brain and anti-inflammatory proteins. It is this chemical release that occurs within 24 to 48 hours which brings about the amazing healing properties that is produced by utilizing Nitrogen based extreme cold air. A single session Can Burn up to 800 Calories.
Nitrogen vs Electric and Open vs Closed Chambers
We use Nitrogen for several reasons. Number one is that with Nitrogen we can achieve temperatures down to -300 degrees Fahrenheit. Electric Chambers at best achieve -160 degrees, so by using Nitrogen, our Cryo Cabin can produce greater than 100 degrees colder in temperature. Since our Cryoness Chamber is an open chamber, it allows the client’s head to be above the unit. Clients are not subject to breathing the extreme cold air, which is not good for the lungs especially if you have asthma. Also with our Open Chamber, there is no need to cover the ears or the mouth and with it being open at the top, there are very few issues with regards to claustrophobia .
Nitrogen also has healing effects for the Collagen of the Skin and can actually tighten and tone and possibly reduce cellulite.
Also, because with Nitrogen, the air is completely dehumidified, the client has no exposure to moisture and thus the cold temperatures are not totally perceived and the 3 minute session is quite comfortable compared to a traditional ice bath at 50 degrees where one is very uncomfortable and possibly experiencing pain for 15-20 minute session.
Nitrogen, due to its ability to achieve extreme cold temperatures very rapidly and also maintain the temperature the entire 3 minutes, produces the Survival Response in the brain more quickly than lower temperature electric enclosed Chambers, thus why we chose only the best for our client: Liquid Nitrogen Cryochamber
